BRISD participated in the FCCLA Culinary Arts Regional Competition. Three of our high school students qualified for the State competition. Deg and Patrick placed in Culinary Arts. They were given a menu to prepare without recipes in front of professional chefs. Their menu for regionals was pan-seared flank steak with herb compound butter, mashed sweet potatoes, sauteed broccoli, and chocolate mousse. Faith placed in Cupcake Presentation. She had to bake cupcakes to take to the competition and create an entire table presentation (tablescape) to match. She gave an oral presentation about her planning process and theme as well. Her theme was a "baby in bloom" baby shower theme with lemon-strawberry cupcakes. Way to go to our culinary students and their teacher, Mrs. Lytle.
